The Fire Side was established in 1995 by Ian Morrison in his home village of West Linton.
The business is now run by Jacqui Morrison, Ian’s wife, who joined the company part time in 2004. Ian started The Fire Side with his business partner Dave Murray. However, after a couple of years Dave made the decision to pursue other business opportunities and Ian took on the business himself. Working alongside Alistair Small, a knowledgeable installer with a solid reputation for high-quality workmanship Ian built the company into a successful business.’
Sadly, in 2011, Ian was diagnosed with cancer, at which time Jacqui – who is Hetas trained – began working full time and she is now sole director, and continues to work with Alistair Small to provide the same high quality service and after care that provide the foundations of the company’s enviable reputation. In 2018 Steve, the partner of Ian’s daughter Holly, joined The Fire Side hoping to keep this a family run business for years to come.
Before joining The Fire Side, Jacqui held the role of Head of Service in a number of large organisations and latterly worked as an Freelance Management Coach focusing on training teams to deliver excellent service. Jacqui believes that any companies success and longevity, whatever the size, is absolutely dependant on consistently understanding customers requirements and then providing service that exceeds expectations.
After studying Building Surveying at Edinburgh Napier University Steve went travelling where he lived and worked in New Zealand. After returning home he joined The Fire Side where his knowledge and experience of the building industry both on the tools and off allow him to guide customers through all the details of how they can achieve their perfect installation.
